Larry Bartek
I am a native Texan,
currently employed as a Peace Officer with a large municipal police
agency outside of Dallas, Texas. I originally worked in the
construction industry for about 16 years and became a Peace Officer
in 1989. I have been member
of the Special Weapons and
 Tactics
Unit (SWAT) since 1991 specializing as a sniper. I have been assigned to
Patrol Services, Neighborhood Patrol Unit,
Juvenile Investigations, Burglary
Investigations, and currently the Family Violence/Child Abuse Unit
of Collin
County. I implemented introduction
of rifles into the Patrol Division and continue to train our
officers in both rifle and pistol skills.
My shooting background is centered on
rifles and I have competed in various competitions ranging from NRA
sanctioned events to the Police/Military competitions in Europe and
the United States. I have always enjoyed pistol shooting and I
know the difficulties in learning because I am still a student of
the pistol myself. My rifle training
took most of my devotion and time, but as a result, I myself am
still learning to improve.
Safety is my number one priority and dominates the shooting portion
of the class.
I always instruct at a pace consistent with the students abilities in mind. This is
usually at a slow effective pace with lots of repetition.
